**Job Summary and Qualifications**
**The Risk Manager oversees the activities of the Risk Management Program, provides guidance for risk assessments, designs, develops, and delivers education regarding effective risk management strategies. Assists the facility’s Director of Patient Safety with process improvement initiatives facility-wide in support of the reduction of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to medical malpractice, general liability, and property claims.**
**Consults with clinical leadership and staff, supports and encourages error reporting throughout the organization through the use of the Meditech system, and communicates literature-based ideas regarding effective risk management strategies to others within the organization.**
**Job duties including but not limited to:**
+ Analysis of variance reports, independent categorization of severity and prioritization for response, investigation, and follow-up in a timely manner.
+ Utilizes data from variance reporting system and external reporting sources as appropriate to track, trend and propose education and risk reduction activities.
+ Oversight and coordination of the hospital's grievance response procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements, corporate policy, and federal / state laws
+ Oversight and coordination of the hospital's medical device recall procedures in accordance with law and regulation.
+ Assists with coordinating investigation and analysis of facility events in a timely and efficient manner to ensure thorough, credible, and timely completion.
+ Coordinates lost valuable processes including independent determination of reimbursement in accordance with law and regulation.
+ Assists in organizing and coordinating for action plan development and monitoring of new processes designed to prevent errors.
+ Develops and teaches required Risk Management education during general orientation and validates required annual risk management education.
+ Collaborates on the development of policy and procedures effecting patient and organizational safety and regulatory compliance.
+ Coordinates submission of annual Risk Management report to AHCA and preparation for annual Risk Management survey.
+ Assists with other Patient Safety and Quality Management activities as needed.
+ Ensures Director of Patient Safety, VP of Quality, and appropriate members of Senior Leadership are informed timely of events of high concern.
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ (RN) Registered Nurse
+ Bachelors Degree required
+ Masters Degree preferred
+ CPPS required within 12 months of hire
+ Certification in Patient Safety preferred
+ 3 years of healthcare experience required
+ Quality, Risk, or Patient Safety experience preferred
+ Strong written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, team player, ability to influence changes without direct authority, and negotiation skills.
+ Combined knowledge of quality data analysis and risk management in short term care setting.
