Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Senior Manager to lead and coordinate the daily operations of our Washington, DC newsroom. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and seasoned newsroom leader with a deep understanding of national politics, policy reporting, and the fast-paced nature of breaking news. This role requires a collaborative manager who can drive editorial excellence, maintain high journalistic standards, and manage a diverse team of reporters, journalists, assignment editors, and embeds. Responsibilities + Oversee daily editorial planning and news coverage related to Congress, the White House, federal agencies, and national political developments. + Lead a team of journalists, ensuring timely, accurate, and impactful reporting. Collaborate with senior editorial leadership to define and execute coverage priorities and long-term projects. + Serve as a key liaison between reporters, journalists, editors, embeds, and other departments. + Supervise newsroom operations, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation. + Provide editorial guidance and mentorship to reporters and editors to strengthen story development and reporting rigor. + Monitor breaking news and guide real-time editorial decisions. + Ensure compliance with ethical journalism standards and organizational guidelines. Qualifications + 8+ years of journalism experience, with at least 3 in a leadership or editorial management role. + Strong understanding of U.S. politics, legislative processes, and federal policy issues. + Proven track record in managing editorial teams and high-pressure news cycles. + Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills. + Demonstrated ability to make fast, sound editorial judgments. + Experience working across multimedia platforms (digital, video, audio preferred). + Bachelor's degree in journalism, political science, communications, or related field (Master’s a plus).
