Job Title: Civil Engineer III (Federal)Job Description
As a Senior Federal Civil Engineer III, you will be entrusted with performing and directing civil engineering duties on multi-discipline building design projects of moderate to large scope, as well as projects focused solely on civil engineering. This role is heavily design-focused, requiring a passion for design and comfort in engaging with design tasks consistently.
Responsibilities
+ Perform civil engineering duties including analysis and design involving utilities, roadways, site grading, stormwater management, erosion control, and site plan preparation.
+ Supervise and direct the work of Civil Engineers and EI/EITs assigned to the project.
+ Coordinate with other design disciplines and manage the production of contract documents while ensuring project budget and schedule requirements are met.
+ Lead several projects of moderate complexity and scope concurrently when required by schedule and/or resource constraints.
+ Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of services.
+ Manage the civil portion of multi-discipline projects and collaborate with assigned Project Managers to achieve project budget, schedule, goals, and objectives.
+ Coordinate, supervise, and communicate all aspects of the civil design within multi-discipline teams to ensure seamless integration with other disciplines.
+ Communicate with the contractor on Design-Build projects to verify the suitability of selected systems and materials.
+ Manage and supervise civil support services associated with the bidding process, including preparing addenda and amendments, and opening and tabulating bids.
+ Manage and supervise civil support services during the construction phase, including field visits, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings.
+ Ensure staff compliance with quality control policies and procedures.
+ Collaborate with and respond to direction from Managing Principals, Project Managers, Design Managers, Operations Directors, and senior management.
+ Assist in presenting projects to clients, contractors, project team members, authorities having jurisdiction, and the public throughout all stages of the project.
+ Actively support company marketing and business development activities.
+ Establish and maintain positive client relationships and provide technical guidance to civil staff.
+ Mentor and monitor the professional development of civil staff.
+ Assist Department Director and Department Head in developing new and/or revised processes and procedures.
+ Represent the Department Head when necessary.
+ Lead staff training sessions.
+ Provide input to the Department Head on staff annual performance reviews.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of design experience working on federal projects or public sector projects.
+ ABET Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering, or Civil Engineering Technology.
+ Proficient in utilizing company software programs for word processing, e-mail, accounting, and information management.
+ Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and stormwater modeling programs.
+ Familiarity with design and production software and the ability to understand their capabilities and limitations.
+ Experience in analysis and design involving utilities, roadways, site grading, stormwater management, erosion control, and site plan preparation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Fully licensed Engineer in at least one US state, preferably in the local jurisdiction.
+ NCEES record to facilitate licensure through reciprocity is preferred.
+ Understanding of sustainable design principles and LEED AP accreditation is preferred.
+ Experience as a lead designer or civil engineer in federal, state, municipal, healthcare, commercial, higher education or similar projects.
+ Experience in Design/Build and CM at Risk project delivery methods.
Work Environment
The work is primarily sedentary and performed in an office setting, which is well-lighted, heated, and ventilated. The position may require extended periods of standing, sitting, and repetitive movements, with occasional bending and lifting of minimal weight. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/hr.
