As a Senior Communications Specialist, you will be the main content creator for various internal and external channels, including Caterpillar's intranet site, which reaches over 100,000 employees, and caterpillar.com, which has a wide audience reach.

In this role, you'll manage the editorial process, ensuring all content aligns with our strategic priorities and brand voice while effectively engaging audiences across multiple platforms. Strong collaboration with our internal business partners and the social media team will be essential to amplify our messaging for multiple platforms and enhance audience engagement.

We're seeking someone with exceptional writing skills and a talent for creating engaging content in various formats, including written, video and visual media. The ideal candidate should also have a strong understanding of user dynamics and preferences on different platforms, from intranets and websites to external digital platforms and social media feeds.

Additionally, candidates will have experience in coordinating the efforts of internal partners, graphic designers and writers. If you have a passion for storytelling and engaging audiences, this is your chance to make a significant impact and shape our communications content strategy. 


 

What You Will Do:
 

Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that supports organizational goals and initiatives.Create clear, compelling, and consistent written, video and visual content for internal and external communications.Lead the editorial process, including brainstorming, drafting, editing, and finalizing content, ensuring high-quality standards and adherence to brand guidelines.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather insights and information, transforming complex ideas into accessible and engaging narratives.Mentor global communications team members to foster strong, consistent communications across the enterprise.Collaborate with business partners as a trusted advisor and extended team member to develop their content on highly visible, cross-enterprise campaigns.Analyze audience engagement and content metrics while collecting feedback to refine content strategies and enhance effectiveness.Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging communication channels to drive innovation in content creation.Manage content distribution across various platforms and formats, optimizing for audience engagement and reach.Ensure all content aligns with the organization’s tone, style, and mission.

What You Bring:

Organizational Communications: Knowledge of techniques and media for organizational communication; ability to utilize relevant tools to communicate information about the organization internally and externally.Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short-term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.Initiative: Being proactive and committing to action on self-identified job responsibilities and challenges; ability to seek out work and the drive to accomplish goals.Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field  10 or more years of progressive communications experienceKnowledge of Organization: Knowledge of the organization's vision, structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles, values, and code of ethics; ability to understand the value of aligning capabilities with business goals to support optimal performance.Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

The primary location for this position is Dallas, TX or Peoria, ILTravel up to 10%-15%Relocation is possible for the ideal candidateSponsorship is not available for this role

Summary Pay Range:

$126,000.00 - $189,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
