Senior Director Information Technology - POS, Payment Solutions & Order Fulfillment

Reports to the Chief Information Officer

Purpose

This senior leadership role is responsible for defining and executing the technology strategy for Floor & Decor’s customer-facing transaction systems, including Point of Sale (POS), payment solutions, and order fulfillment (pickup & delivery). As the owner of these Tier 1 applications, you will drive innovation, operational excellence, and strategic alignment across store, digital, and enterprise functions. This leader will manage a team of engineers, analysts, and vendors to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing systems in support of our continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Own the long-term technology vision and roadmap for POS, payments, and order fulfillment systems.

Align IT strategy with enterprise goals by partnering with executive leaders across Operations, Finance, Digital, and Customer Experience.

Drive large-scale modernization and transformation efforts, including cloud adoption, mobility, and omnichannel fulfillment.

Technology Delivery & Operations

Oversee end-to-end delivery and support of customer-facing transaction platforms across stores and selling channels.

Ensure stability, scalability, and security of all supported systems through robust architectural decisions, operational processes, and monitoring.

Lead incident response and root cause analysis processes for critical production issues, ensuring accountability and long-term scalable solutions.

Team & Vendor Management

Lead a cross-functional team of developers, QA engineers, product owners, and support analysts; build a culture of high performance, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Manage relationships with software vendors, system integrators, and service providers; own SLA adherence and performance metrics.

Mentor and grow internal talent while identifying gaps and opportunities for upskilling and organizational scale.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Evaluate emerging technologies and retail trends to ensure Floor & Decor remains competitive in associate and customer-facing experiences.

Identify and eliminate technical debt while building toward a more flexible and agile transaction ecosystem.

Promote DevOps best practices, automation, and test-driven development to improve software quality and delivery speed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

15+ years of experience in IT, with at least 7 years in leadership roles focused on POS, payment systems, or fulfillment in a retail environment

Strong track record of delivering enterprise-grade applications that scale across hundreds of locations and support critical business operations

Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills

Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a strong customer-centric mindset

Must pass a pre-employment background check

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Java-based POS and payment platforms such as Veras Retail, Oracle 360 Commerce, BAMS, Fiserv, Tempus, or similar

Deep knowledge of payment systems and credit/debit card integrations, including EMV, PCI compliance, and tokenization

Familiarity with order fulfillment platforms including curbside pickup, delivery scheduling, and inventory orchestration

Experience working with ERP platforms, Salesforce (CRM), and customer loyalty systems

Hands-on experience with modern development frameworks: Java/JEE (Spring, Hibernate), frontend frameworks (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Angular), and mobile platforms

Exposure to observability and automation tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, regression/automation testing platforms)

Familiarity with agile methodologies, Jira, and project tracking tools
