Element has an opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team in Minnetonka, MN. As a member of the operations team, the Senior Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The engineer positions must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities Provides technical and engineering leadership, and supports the development of new technologies within a local laboratory and potentially across the Element enterpriseProvides counsel to coworkers and customers requiring critical analysis of dataIs able to exchange technical information and knowledge with peers, senior colleagues and specialists across the element enterpriseActively seeks ways to disseminate critical testing knowledge, acumen and protocols throughout ElementIs accountable for accurate and timely release of testing data to customers including sign-offs of quality control data as acceptableIs able to oversee and guide problem solving of complicated technical challengesProvides input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customersConfident making both formal and informal presentations on conventional and/or routine testing to a wide range of stakeholdersAssists in the professional development of novice technicians and engineers within the local laboratoryCarries out crucial examination and implementation of testing concepts and dataUtilizes an assortment of skill, methods, procedures and materials in advanced testing analysisAdept at drawing on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusions Skills / Qualifications Working knowledge of laboratory safetyPossesses a wealth of knowledge, deep awareness and critical understanding related to the scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of his/her chosen engineering disciplineHas a depth of specialty knowledge and understanding in multiple areas of an engineering disciplineHas also demonstrated the ability to develop technical knowledge in their chosen field in the context of Element’s businessLikely to possess a Bachelors of Science degree in a science or testing related fieldWill have a minimum of 5 years’ pertinent post-degree engineering experience, or advanced academic/professional qualificationsPossesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s businessIn-depth understanding of testing conceptsPossess strong computer skillsAbility to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
