The upcoming American Express Travel Mobile App not only drives direct revenue and cost savings but also plays an important role in overall Card product engagement, loyalty and satisfaction.
**How will you make an impact in this role?**
We are looking for a highly motivated, independent, and skilled engineer to work on developing travel mobile application that will be used by American Express cardholders around the world. We want someone with strong technical skills and creativity; someone who enjoys solving tough problems and working with innovative technologies. This person should not be shy about sharing their ideas and be obsessive about user experience and beautiful code.
You will be working in a fast-paced small-team environment with the stability of working as part of a Fortune 100 company. Your primary responsibility will be to work with a team of designers, product owners, QA, and engineers solutioning, developing and improving features. You should be familiar with modern software development methodologies popular in Android and be able to dive deep and rapidly iterate on ideas with your team despite some ambiguity.
+ Application Solutioning
+ Present solutions on an ongoing basis in wider forums including senior leaders to seek feedback, make continuous adjustments and drive sign offs.
+ Document architecture, technical requirements, high-level and low-level designs to include component design, data models, integration views, infrastructure design and software technology stack.
+ Conduct quantitative comparative analysis on solution options.
+ Software Development
+ Sets up the infrastructure and the development environments.
+ Writes and delivery high quality code in Kotlin for Android development
+ Leads review of colleague’s work
+ Builds monitoring dashboards and logging & alerting strategies.
+ Monitors system performance and availability and improves software quality through root cause analysis.
+ Deep understanding of infrastructure technologies and components
+ Has deep understanding of the core tools used in the planning, analysing, crafting, building, testing, configuring, and maintaining of assigned application(s)
+ Leadership
+ Prepares and presents solutions and progress updates to product and technology leadership
+ Collaborates and communicates effectively across engineering and enterprise teams.
+ Mentors and coaches junior team members
+ Influences team members with creative changes and improvements by challenging status quo and demonstrating risk taking.
+ Demonstrates increased self-reliance to achieve team goals.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ 6 years of software development experience in:
+ Building Android Applications with Kotlin
+ Build tools like Gradle, GitHub Actions, and Circle CI
+ Asynchronous coding patterns
+ Continuous Integration patterns
+ Unit & Integration Tests
+ Finding and fixing bugs
+ Performance Analysis and Optimization
+ Designing solutions for open ended problems
+ Working in a globally distributed team
+ Technically leading an agile engineering team and contributing to agile ceremonies.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required, advanced degree preferred.
