Chewy is looking for a passionate, data-driven Senior Merchandising Analytics Manager to join our Merchandising Analytics Team. Within Chewy, the Merchandising Analytics team is focused on utilizing data to understand and influence business actions to drive favorable financial performance and exceptional customer experience for our pet parents. In this role, the Senior Merchandising Analytics Manager will directly support our Category Management Analytics function, with an emphasis on Promotions Analytics. They will be responsible for programmatic analytical deep dives on promotion efficacy, provide ongoing recommendations, and program managing promotional reporting, including building and maintaining core reporting tools to drive continuous improvements in business decision making processes analyzing Merchandising data sets to address complex problems.
The ideal candidate will have an exemplary background in analytics, a deep understanding of data-driven decision-making, a passion for driving results in a fast-paced environment, and proven experience in delivering decision-oriented insights for senior leadership. This individual is also highly proficient in developing and executing cross-functional project plans while being able to operate with minimal direction from leadership. Additionally, the individual would partner closely with the Data Science team to develop roadmaps to increase the assessment of promotional activity. The person in this role will work with cross-functional teams throughout the organization to optimize promotion strategy.
What you'll do:
Lead the development of best-in-class analyses for evaluating promotional effectiveness with respect to financial performance, product assortment, site placement, and customer experience measures, partnering with senior cross-functional partners to clarify problem statements and scopeIndependently identify opportunities for application of advanced analytical solutions and models, ultimately deploying these solutions independently or with support from Business AnalystsLeverage large data sets and write advanced SQL code efficiently combining multiple sources to surface actionable insights that support Merchandising in making data driven decisionsDevelop a centralized repository of insights on promotion performance and deliver recommendations to business partners for maximizing specific business outcomesProgram manages cross-functional analytics initiatives that require development of new data tables and fields, data products, and tools for both internal and external stakeholdersPartner with business analysts and data engineering teams to prioritize and QA development of new data sources, tables, metrics and productsSupport Merchandising leadership in understanding and influencing business inputs to drive favorable outputs across customer experience and financial metricsIntake, translate, prioritize business partner inputs to inform new data products and enhance existing reportsCommunicate findings and influence stakeholders at various levelsLead, coach, and mentor business analysts to help them deliver results, develop analytical skillset, and grow their careersWhat you'll need:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Information Management) or related discipline with analytical emphasis. 5+ years of directly transferrable work experience (e.g., data analysis and modeling, data visualization, forecasting, ETL processes, etc.)Advanced proficiency in SQL, Excel, and various technologies such as R, Python, etc. Advanced data visualization skills using software such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.Thorough understanding of Financial KPIs and P&L statement with proficiency in executing break-even analyses, NPV, and ROI analysesHigh degree of proficiency with executing complex data analysesAbility to independently lead cross-functional projects, delivering high quality results on tight timelinesStrong understand of Ecommerce pricing and promotion KPIsHigh degree of proficiency executing complex and large-scale data analyses across millions of recordsExcellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and senior leadershipStrong understanding of data warehousing and relational or columnar database structureSuperior attention to detail and experience creating mechanisms to monitor data integrityAbility to operate in ambiguous environments with speed and commitment to qualityAbility to travel up to 10% of the timeBonus:
Modeling experience in pricing or promotionsProject Management CertificationThe specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.
