We also support our communities through mine remediation and closure design. **Your Opportunity** Stantec is seeking a Senior Project Manager / Program Manager to play a vital leadership role in the Mining, Minerals & Metals Business Line. This position focuses on enhancing project delivery practices, fostering strong client relationships, and mentoring project teams to drive strategic success. Reporting to the Regional Business Leader (RBL), the role requires collaboration with internal leaders and industry partners to ensure innovation, efficiency, and excellence in project execution. The successful candidate will lead complex projects domestically and internationally, manage risk, business development, and align business strategies with client needs, contributing to Stantec’s mission of delivering cutting-edge solutions in the mining sector. **Your Key Responsibilities** + The Senior Project Manager must have good business awareness and acumen. They need to possess a competent understanding of Project Management Fundamentals and have a firm understanding of the relationship between project scope, costs, and schedule. + The core competencies for this position include: + Capability to manage large multi-disciplinary engineering and feasibility study projects, develop budgets, determine project scope, establish schedules, and interacting with clients. + Ability and desire to engage in business development in Latin American, the US, and Canada with a focus in the global segment (e.g., develop proposals and identify project opportunities) + Provide mine, operations and financial expertise to our internal teams and external clients. + Assist in developing and expanding our role with new and existing clients. + Mange tasks and mentor, develop, and build our younger staff as required. + Identify and resolve project execution gaps, either based on individuals, structure, processes, or systems, in collaboration with RBLs and BC Leaders. Implement improvements to work processes, policies, and procedures at every opportunity to enhance project execution, control, and monitoring. + Support BC Leadership in resource management processes, recruitment, succession planning, and coaching/mentoring for PMs and Project Leaders. + Lead/support efforts to integrate improved resource management (e.g., implement resource-loaded scheduling capabilities and practices if needed). Interface with Project Services Leaders (Project Controls, DMDC, etc.) to ensure projects are resourced appropriately. + Conduct analysis (project and business trends) including early identification of potential issues and recommended solutions to BC leadership. + Drive client satisfaction by building a culture of excellence and accountability within the Project Management community. Support client relationship management efforts and mentoring of PMs in how to build valued and long-lasting relationships with clients. + Support PMs, in collaboration with BCPLs, SLs, and other business developers, in the development of project scopes, schedules, budgets, and execution plans for major projects—ensuring plans are fit-for-purpose. Individual Contributor + Work with multiple teams across regions such as Canada, Peru, Chile, and Australia to identify and position for new project opportunities. Achieve utilization target as agreed annually with the RBL. Initial expectation for utilization in the range of 60-70%. **Qualifications** **Credentials & Capabilities** Strategic Leadership & Execution + Proven ability to drive project success through process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives. + Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to navigate complex project challenges. + Ability to lead diverse, multi-disciplinary teams across global regions with confidence and clarity. Project Management Mastery + Expert in scheduling, project controls, and document management to enhance project efficiency. + In-depth knowledge of risk assessment frameworks to mitigate project delivery risks. + Capability to identify deviations in scope, schedule, and budget and implement corrective actions. Industry Knowledge & Technical Expertise + Extensive experience in industrial and mining projects, including financial and operational insights. + Familiarity with contract structures, pricing models, and strategic resource allocation. + Strong QA/QC expertise with attention to detail to ensure high-quality project outcomes. Client & Stakeholder Engagement + Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to foster strong client relationships. + Ability to champion customer service excellence with conviction and purpose. + Experience in business development across Latin America, the US, and Canada. Adaptability & Influence + Versatile and flexible, thriving in environments with shifting priorities and evolving needs. + Skilled at driving organizational change through strategic influence and leadership. + Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish is considered a plus. + Willingness to travel globally for project execution and client engagements. **Education and Experience** + Industry Experience: 20 years in the mining industry. + Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in mining, civil, geotechnical engineering, or geoscience. + Business Development: Proven track record to develop and execute on business development strategies across multiple regions and teams.
