What you'll be doing
As a member of CIBC’s Application Development Technology Services team, you’ll work in a fast-paced Banking Center where you’ll make a meaningful difference in our clients’ application.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be expected to work closely with our clients/business partners to gather requirements, and recommend solution paths in order to maintain a high quality application and whose features are delivered on time and on budget. The person filling this role will be very much involved in the migration of our ASP.NET application to Azure in the first half of this year. CIBC offers an environment that challenges developers to continually improve processes, and add automation in order to produce and deploy software as efficiently as possible.
Work Arrangement: At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. To successfully perform the work, you’ll be on-site 2 days per week while the rest of the days might be remote.
How you'll succeed
Client engagement – Meet with clients to understand their priorities, advise them on solutions, and provide a forward-looking financial plan. Use your knowledge of cash management, credit, investment, and wealth protection to help clients meet their goals.
Design robust solutions – You will analyze enhancements and production issues, and design robust scalable solutions using primarily ASP.NET and SQL Server.
Develop Software Solutions - You will be building software solutions using languages and technologies of the .NET framework. Additionally, you will be developing all database portions of the solution using SQL Server. You will create applications and application features from scratch, configure existing systems and provide user support.
Consult on Feature Test Plans – Work closely with QA analyst on all features to formulate comprehensive test plans that covers all possible test scenarios to ensure all requirements at met.
Code efficient features – You will compose code that is resilient, reusable, and scalable using .NET programming languages. The successful candidate would also have knowledge on developing secure code with limited/no vulnerabilities to cross-site scripting, SQL injection, etc.
Maintain Code Integrity – The successful candidate will have a sharp eye for spotting defects. You will be required to conduct peer code reviews, and provide feedback to your peers on improving their code’s quality, efficiency, and security.
Partner with Business – In this role, you will interact with client/business partners on a daily basis. You will be required to explain complicated technical issues to them in terms they can understand, so they can make informed decisions on our recommendations. It is essential to be a team player and excellent communicator in this role.
Migrate ASP.NET application to Azure – In the first half of the year, you will be involved in migrating our OnPrem ASP.NET application to Azure, and assisting with the migration from Team Found Server (TFS) to Azure DevOps (ADO).
Who you are
The successful candidate will have 8 years or more as a .NET Developer and 5 years experience in Full Stack development, working with both Front and backend of the applications. This would include experience with ASP.NET framework, SQL Server and design/architectural patterns (e.g. Model-View-Controller (MVC)). Ability to code at a high level in .NET languages (C#) as well as JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5/CSS. Experience with MS Azure, and experience/familiarity with Azure DevOps (ADO) is required.
You should have familiarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, RPC), understanding of Agile methodologies, and excellent troubleshooting and communication skills. Experience with Team Found Server and or Azure DevOps (ADO) is preferred.
Ability to handle a high degree of ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities while continuously finding areas to deliver value.
Ability to revise, update, refactor and debug code
Ability to serve as an expert on applications and provide technical support
8+ years of applicable experience is required.
BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $120,000 - $135,000 for the New York City, Colorado, Washington and California market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
