Role SummarySplunk is looking for a Senior Manager to provide day-to-day leadership in our Splunk Cloud TechOps team. This position is responsible for overseeing the operational infrastructure and delivery of Splunk’s SaaS customer facing systems. As a senior manager of TechOps, you'll lead a team responsible for building and running our distributed systems at scale in production, supporting and monitoring our rapidly growing Cloud Platform. You'll use metrics to plan, implement, automate, and continually improve processes that lead to an improvement in overall MTTR. We're looking for and individual to bring a fresh approach to problems of all shapes and sizes and help us build a top-notch Splunk Cloud TechOps team.What you'll get to doResponsibilities:Solve issues and participate in on-call support, ensuring stability and performance of the Splunk Cloud environmentDefine and lead all aspects of TechOps projects to ensure quality and alignment with business goalsCollaborate with partner teams to identify and address gaps and opportunities within the businessPartner with our NOC, Support, and SRE teams to deliver agile, highly automated capabilities to monitor applications and our cloud infrastructureDrive automation and software-defined approaches to reliability and availability as well as organisational changeWork closely with various groups within Operations to drive efficiencies including authoring of internal tools, runbooks, and advising on standard methodologies.Represent the TechOps team in meetings regarding process changes and recommendations on new procedures and executionsWork with your peers across the organization to handle customer escalations, incidents, or dependent release activitiesAct as a liaison between NOC, SRE, monitoring teams, support, and leadership for new processes, tools and knowledge transfersProvide incident and escalation lead responsibilities, contribute to post incident reviews, and follow through with action plansLead and mentor a team of high performing engineers while fostering a strong team culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and a customer focused mentalityMust-have QualificationsAt least 5 years in hands-on leadership positionDeep understanding of Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)Experienced in Systems Administration or Technical OperationsHands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting Linux/UNIX servers in a production environmentStrong knowledge of and experience with config managementCollaborative with exceptional social and interpersonal skillsCalm and collected in stressful situations, such as a major service outageTake charge personality, and the ability to drive a plan to completionComfortable working in a dynamic environment with a highly technical teamDemonstrated attention to detail, follow through, and ability to prioritize quickly are vitalSplunk is an Equal Opportunity EmployerSplunk, a Cisco company, is an Equal Opportunity Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, genetic information, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected basis. 

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $203,200.00 - 279,400.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $182,880.00 - 251,460.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $162,560.00 - 223,520.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
