Speech-Language Pathologist
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST Position: Speech Therapist Department: Speech Therapy Reports to: Department Director Created: 4/10/25 Job Summary Maintains minimum requirements of a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, current MS SLP license, and current Certificate of Clinical Competence or CFY. Provides direct and indirect patient care for adult and pediatric patients in a variety of settings to include performing evaluations, developing treatment plans, providing appropriate treatment, and planning discharge per standards set by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Communicates with physicians, nurses, dieticians, social workers, co-workers, and caretakers regarding patient assessment, recommendations, plan and prognosis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Professional Responsibilities: + Appropriately administers and interprets standardized assessments for articulation, language, and cognitive skills + Establish appropriate diet recommendations and compensatory strategies based on clinical dysphagia assessment + Establishes appropriate and pertinent plan of care based on chart review, diagnosis, and clinical findings + Accurately and efficiently completes E-Care documentation + Meets CEU requirements for assigned intervals to maintain current, valid MS State Dept of Health license and ASHA CCC or CFY + Actively participates in the department’s performance improvement (PI) activities + Adheres to and utilizes appropriate infection control policies + Participates in orientation of new personnel + Attends mandatory staff meetings and remains current with HealthStream requirements + Meets annual requirements as defined by the facility Qualifications Education and Experience + Current MS state license + Current ASHA CCC-SLP + CPR certification Working Conditions + Physical Demands • Stand –Frequent • Walk-Frequent • Sit-Occasional • Talk or hear-Continuous • Push/Pull-Occasional • Lift up to 25 pounds – Frequent • Lift up to 100 pounds-Frequent • Lift more than 100 pounds-Frequent • Close Vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) • Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more) • Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point) • Depth Perception (three dimensional vision; ability to judge distances and spatial relationships) • Adjust Focus (ability to adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus) • Hear overhead paging system and fire alarms + Work Environment • Work near moving or mechanical parts-Occasional • Outdoor weather conditions-Occasional • Risk of electric shock-Occasional • Risk of radiation-Occasional • Typical noise level for the work environment-Moderate Noise
