Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This is a long-term contract position offering the opportunity to work on diverse accounting processes and collaborate with project managers to ensure financial accuracy. The role requires a proactive individual who is eager to streamline procedures and deliver precise financial reports. Responsibilities: • Perform bank and account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records. • Prepare and post journal entries while reviewing billing and payable data. • Conduct financial modeling and manage project accounting to track actuals and estimates. • Analyze project variances, meet with managers to address discrepancies, and record findings into databases. • Lead month-end close activities, including Profit & Loss analysis, accrued expenses, and balance sheet reconciliations. • Review invoices and revenue for compliance and accuracy. • Monitor budgets against actuals, identifying and documenting variances. • Propose and implement improvements to accounting processes at both national and international levels. • Manage the accounting inbox by responding promptly to daily inquiries. • Support and execute special accounting projects as required. Requirements • Proven expertise in account reconciliation, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations. • Strong understanding of general ledger processes and journal entries. • Proficiency in financial modeling and project accounting. • Experience with month-end close procedures and comprehensive Profit & Loss analysis. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting. • Familiarity with reviewing budgets and identifying variances. • Ability to ensure compliance and accuracy in invoices and financial data. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
