The Sr. Compliance Specialist - Labeling is responsible for auditing labels to ensure they comply with regulations and internal policies, leading projects for implementation of processes to address new label regulations, and educating various business units on labeling rules.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead cross-functional labeling projects to ensure compliance with new or changing rules, regulations, or laws Document and/or evaluate processes and corresponding internal controls to ensure compliance with applicable US and international laws, regulations, and policies Utilize the compliance module within DFA’s Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) system to capture the organization’s labeling control environment Conduct periodic monitoring of internal controls Create reference materials and conduct training for business units such as R&D and Marketing, to provide education on labeling requirements Perform regular audits of nutritional information, product formulation, marketing materials, ingredient statements, and product claims to ensure proper documentation and compliance with applicable regulations Maintain current knowledge of state, FDA, USDA, and other applicable labeling requirements and regulations Influence the work of others outside of direct authority to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met and issues and risks are communicated Develop and maintain an understanding of the organization’s various companies, lines of business, and operations, worldwide Develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the organization The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties and skills required. Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field 4+ years of experience in labeling compliance, food safety and quality, regulatory, or a related field Experience leading cross-functional project teams with members that are not direct reports

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong knowledge of domestic (FDA, USDA) and international food label regulations and documentation requirements Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Knowledge of and skill with understanding and interpreting food labeling regulations and standards Implement and understand internal control practices Excellent organizational and project management skills Excellent ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the organization Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills Demonstrates an approachable, professional demeanor Detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to provide quality deliverables on time Integrity and commitment to the highest ethical standards and personal values, including proven ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments and prioritize work assignments as needed to meet business needs Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, as well as work independently with minimum supervision Ability to analyze, solve problems and implement change management
