 As a Store Concepts Design Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Starbucks by designing innovative store formats and concepts that enhance our brand and business. Collaborating with a diverse, cross-functional team of experts, you will drive large-scale innovation and contribute to the creation of groundbreaking store experiences. 

As a Design Lead on the Global Concepts team, you will… 

Design and influence Starbucks' physical and visual brand expression and creative strategy.  Define the 'Coffeehouse Experience' through visuals, physical mockups, and full concept store experiences.  Develop cross-functional knowledge, synthesize, strategize, and collaborate to deliver financially responsible and scalable design innovations.  Lead the development of new concepts collaborating and actively problem-solving with cross-functional project teams to ensure timely and effective execution of new innovations.  Oversee end-to-end store concept design from conceptualization to implementation.  Manage medium to long-term store experience strategy, addressing emergent business needs through brand-related store solutions.  Work on a motivated, design-focused team.  Drive the business forward as part of a highly collaborative team, while acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles 

We’d love to hear from people with:

Demonstrated experience with retail, hospitality or restaurant design including management of construction documents.  Current knowledge of retail, hospitality, or restaurant industry trends, including furniture and finishes   Proficient using Revit, SketchUp, and Rhino for 3D modeling and architectural drawings.  Experience as a project or small team leader, including demonstrating ability to make decisions and manage multiple projects or priorities.  Project management experience including reporting, budget adherence and managing external consultants.  Current working knowledge of building and health code compliance.  Demonstrated 3D visualization ability and working knowledge of color and design principles  Ability to execute multiple designs under tight deadlines  Ability to communicate design with hand sketches and drawings.  Skilled in visual, written and verbal communication of design issues.  Knowledge of architectural details and specifications for construction document production.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.  Proficiency with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. 

EDUCATION 

Bachelor's degree in design or related design field from an accredited educational institution  

 Preferred Education: Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution in Architecture, Interior Design or related design field. Professional licensing, qualification and/or credentials in Architecture or Interior Design and a recognized sustainable program 

PREFERRED SKILLS 

Proficiency with Enscape rendering system and VR visualization  Advanced project management in a fast-paced environment  Experience managing project teams.  Proficiency with Adobe creative cloud apps.

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.  For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above. 

 

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
