The position is responsible for the engineering and design activities, in the vertical related to assigned functional area, such as engineering analysis, design, and project management with the guidance of higher-level engineers, leads, supervisors, or managers. The engineer will be working with higher-level engineers to complete projects that support our customer. The engineer may also work with other internal engineers, designers, and project staff as well as client engineers and designers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete structural projectsProvide training and guidance to lower-level employeesUtilize computer software to design all substation structures and foundations.Review Design Basis, Design Notes, Hazard Log, SOW, Technical Specs and Field Review PlanWork with electrical designers to develop structural scopes and estimates based on one-line diagrams and electrical arrangement drawingsReview structural design drawings, fabricator detail drawings and other project documents to verify compliance with design theory, material specified and the appropriate structural codes and standardsMake recommendations for improving structural designs, drawings or documentsCreate material requisitions and work with compare fabricators to verify lead times and cost so that correct steel is ordered and delivered pre the project scheduleCoordinate with electrical designers and other structural team members to complete any required submittals by the project scheduleFunction as a project lead for structural projectsCoordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete structural projectsInitiate corrective action when substation project objectives are not being metInterpret codes and regulations applicable to project work

Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum of four years of experience doing structural engineering, analysis, and foundation workMinimum of four years of experience completing engineering projects from start to finish Minimum of four years of experience scoping, estimating, and ordering materials for structural projectsBachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution Master's Degree in Civil or Structural from an accredited institution will count towards years of experienceA SE License is required for the State of Washington.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $65.00/hr.
