**Job Description**
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ **Education**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
+ In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a High school diploma or equivalency (GED) with four (4) years of experience to include supervision in electrical maintenance and operation; high voltage switchgear; and/or quality control/compliance measures (depending on the specific area of assignment)
+ **Experience**
+ A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience to include two (2) years of supervision in electrical maintenance and operation; high voltage switchgear; and/or quality control/compliance measures (depending on the specific area of assignment)
+ **Certification/Licensure**
+ N/A

Incumbents in this role may be required to report to or continue to work in the event of authorized office closings or service suspensions due to severe weather, natural disaster, fire, operational emergencies or related events.
**Job Summary**
The Superintendent, Electrical Power, is accountable for effectively and efficiently managing, planning, scheduling, coordinating and supervising all of the Authority’s electrical power distribution activities, facilities, and equipment for the traction power, unit substations, electrical maintenance, and electrical distribution equipment areas. The scope of this position’s responsibility encompasses one of three functional areas: cable plant; high voltage equipment and repairs and compliance/quality assurance.
**Essential Functions**
+ Manages, develops, and supervises the effective implementation of technical and administrative plans for electrical systems maintenance activities, which includes the coordination and supervision of individuals involved in all electrical power maintenance to ensure the constant delivery of electrical power to the rail system.
+ Manages the technical evaluation of new equipment and techniques to ensure that the Authority’s electrical power systems result in the maximum opportunity for safe, cost effective, and efficient operation.
+ Ensures that all electrical power systems meet the various government regulatory agencies and Authority standards; enforces safety policies in all assigned work areas to ensure, with special consideration, the safety of employees and customers.
+ Directs timely investigations into equipment failures and personal injury accidents. Determines causes and initiates appropriate corrective action to guard against recurrence of incidents.
+ Recommends approval of, and arranges for the timely purchase of necessary supplies, tools and test equipment to ensure availability of items when needed.
+ Prepares and presents oral/written reports/recommendations relative to personnel requirements, training needs/equipment evaluation, etc., to effectively communicate needs to higher level management officials.
