Survey Instrument Operator\n
Summit Design and Engineering, one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle area, is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to perform journey level survey work involved in performing preliminary as-builts, control, topography, boundary, NCDOT location and ALTA surveys for projects. \n
Responsibilities:\n\nPerform construction stakeout and associated preliminary topographic survey, boundary, ALTA and construction surveys for public and private clients\nOperate and maintain various surveying instruments to measure and verify elevations, angles and distances\nPerform mathematical calculations to establish and locate reference points, property corners, vertical and horizontal reference points and line staking for projects\nInterpret maps, plats, blueprints and specifications\nClean, check and adjust survey instruments to assure accuracy of measurements.\nOversee surveying activities in the absence of Survey Party Chief\n\n
Skills and Qualifications:\n\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one-year survey instrument operation or related experience \nPractical knowledge of land and construction survey methods and procedures\nAbility to operate and maintain survey instruments\nAbility to interpret maps, plans and specifications\nAbility to perform algebraic, geometric and trigonometric calculations\nDetail oriented with good communication skills\nMust be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion. \nMust have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights.\nMust be able to lift and carry up-to 50 pounds, on regular basis\nMust have adequate vision to perform tasks and ability to work outside in various types of weather conditions.\nValid Driver's license with good driving record and ability to drive.\n\n
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:\n\nThree years survey instrument operation or related experience involving the accurate and precise measurement of land areas, boundaries and topographical features using optical electronic measuring devices.\n\n
