Team Leader - Principal Electrical Design Engineer

Role description:

This role will form an integral part of our Global Excellence Centre (GEC) – Arcadis’ centralized and fully integrated project delivery group. Our GEC is made up of more than 3,000 talented individuals working in offices across Romania, India and Philippines, providing Capability, Capacity and a Competitive Advantage across a wide array of unique projects and services, in collaboration with our global businesses.

The MEPF Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) in the GECs is comprised of cross-functional teams, that contribute to the development of innovative MEPF solutions that optimize energy efficiency, sustainability, and occupant comfort. Our ability to effectively manage projects, assess client needs, and provide technical guidance is crucial in delivering successful outcomes, using the most innovative way of doing computational design.  

Role accountabilities:

Leadership & Management: Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the electrical team, ensuring project goals are met on time and within budget. Project Planning & Execution: Contribute to planning and design, ensuring efficient execution of all electrical projects. Quality Assurance: Ensure the team adheres to the highest quality standards, safety regulations, and current legislation. Team Development: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members to develop their skills and enhance team performance. Communication & Collaboration: Act as a point of contact for the electrical team, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. Communicate effectively with other team leaders, stakeholders, and clients, reporting on the progress and challenges of the projects. Continuous Improvement: Assess and review team performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing action plans to maximize efficiency. Do engineering design of general lighting, emergency lighting, power distribution (up to 1kV), fire signaling systems, burglary and CCTV systems.   Design, calculate, sketch, model in 3D tools, do process & instrumention diagrams, electrical panel diagrams, and details of execution drawings.   Build proficiency in REVIT and BIM checking software as well as other software used in calculation.   Plan, organize, and execute projects effectively. This includes managing budgets, coordinating with other disciplines, and overseeing the work of junior engineers or technicians.   Estimating necessary budget, resource list and schedule for the entire electrical scope of the project.   Create comprehensive engineering documents, including equipment specifications, reports, presentation. 

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering low voltage or Building services. Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design for buildings (e.g.:small power, lighting, grounding & lightning protection, data, fire detection). Minimum 3 years of experience in management position (e.g.:Team Lead, Team manager, Team coordinator, Project management). Strong knowledge of design software (e.g., AutoCAD) and calculation software (e.g. Dialux Evo, Relux, Revit, ETAP, EPLAN, Amtech, Intelec,Caneco etc.). Extensive knowledge of norms and standards related to LV Electrical Design. Extensive knowledge of energy and sutanaibility regulations and industry best practices.   Advanced English language skills. Candidates must demonstrate a professional approach to time, costs, and deadlines, be capable of coordinating within a team or across other disciplines and projects, mentor, coach, and develop people skills, possess a supportive attitude, be proactive in asking questions, exhibit excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, show eagerness to learn new capabilities and skills, and maintain a technical and quality focus, show out-of-the box thinking in order to identify any opportunities for automation or innovation.  

Nice to have:

Master's degree in electrical engineering or above. Knowledge of command-and-control systems for motor starting. Strong experience in very low voltage installations design (fire signaling, burglary, control access, CCTV etc.). Experience in BMS design. Security systems designer certification.
