Job Description

We are seeking dedicated Technical Writers to join our dynamic team, specializing in developing technical documentation for advanced military systems. These systems include radars for F-22, F-35, Joint Strike Fighter, F-16, B-1B, MESA, G/ATOR, VADER, and various UAV systems.

ResponsibilitiesWrite, rewrite, and edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related publications to communicate technical information effectively.Oversee the preparation of illustrative materials, including selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts.Conduct quality reviews of materials to ensure accuracy and clarity.Publish materials in various formats, including page-based, electronic (basic and interactive), and structured formats like HTML, XML, and SGML.Collaborate with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors to develop and deliver sensor/system technical manuals with varying levels of detail and delivery formats.Perform desktop publishing tasks for program/project reports, whitepapers, articles, and other documents.Research and compile information from program documents and engineering sources to develop manual outlines that adhere to military and civilian specifications and standards of technical writing.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsBachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline or related field, or military operations and maintenance experience with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks, and information technology-based sensors/systems.Expert knowledge of MS Office Products.Minimum of 2 years of experience with structured authoring applications such as MadCap, FrameMaker, or Arbortext.Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Excellent attention to detail.Possess and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.Self-starter and engaged team member.Additional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of 5 years of technical writing experience.Knowledge of standard content management strategies.Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE 100).Understanding of standards for structured content, including XML, SGML, HTML, and S1000.Possess and maintain DoD Secret or Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).Work Environment

Our facility is located in Linthicum, MD and is part of a large, cleared manufacturing environment known as Technical Data & Training. The team reports up through Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) and focuses on providing comprehensive technical data and training.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $52.00/hr.
