Underwriter/Senior Underwriter, Natural Resources (Renewal)

KEY OBJECTIVE:                                                                                                                                             

As a key member of the commercial underwriting department, this role is responsible for independently managing a diverse portfolio of Commercial Property & Casualty business with a focus on our Natural Resources portfolio to the team’s Retention, Account Rounding, New Business, Renewal Change and Profit goals while establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with assigned brokers. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                                                          

Gather and analyze account information and make underwriting recommendations and decisions on renewals and new business Contribute to differentiated Customer Retention and Sales results Develop and establish relationships with brokers Develop customer-centric renewal strategies that align with the company’s financial goals Collaborate with team members and contribute to an engaging work environment Handle individual risk inquiries/correspondence from brokers and make appropriate decisions Underwriting tasks include exposure and control analysis, coverage negotiation and price adequacy Monitor booking, retention, account rounding and renewal change accuracy Contribute to projects as required to improve the business and continually develop personal skill Strong oral and written communications skillsUniversity degree and/or equivalent insurance-related education and experience3+ years of property and casualty underwriting experience is required experience in Renewable Energy / Mining/ Energy preferred)Proven ability to solve problems independently and with successStrong organization and time management skills with the ability to follow-up independentlyHigh level of responsiveness and efficiency when working with stakeholdersDemonstrated track record of customer service orientation and proven ability to foster strong business relationshipsAbility to respond as a team player, in a multi-task environmentHigh degree of technical knowledge attained in current jobAbility to effectively prioritize tasks. Large regional broker relationship management considered an assetCIP or CRM designation or completed CIP/CRM courses considered to be an asset
