The Role: As a Venue Technician (Electrical Apprentice), you’ll gain broad, practical experience working alongside seasoned professionals, supporting everything from lighting and power systems to HVAC and scoreboard operations. You’ll work event days and non-event days – learning the ropes of live event tech, facility maintenance, and electrical systems in one of NZ’s most iconic venues. You’ll also begin your NZ Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Trade Level 4) within six months of starting. What you’ll be doing: Operations & Events + Assist with venue lighting, power, and air con needs for live shows and events + Monitor and maintain electrical and facility systems + Set up follow spots, scoreboards, and other technical systems + Work closely with production teams and touring crews + Support the delivery of safe, efficient event-day operations Maintenance & Training + Learn from experienced electricians and technicians + Help manage regular testing and tagging of portable electrical equipment + Assist with fault finding and repair of systems including fire, plumbing, HVAC and audio + Track power usage, emergency lighting compliance, and building services maintenance + Gain exposure to facility asset management systems and building management systems What we’re looking for: No qualifications needed – just a genuine interest in the events industry, a keen attitude, and the willingness to learn.
