Posting Number: S06226P Department: Academic Affairs and Provost Dept Job Description: Role of the Vice Provost for Academic Success and Innovation The Vice Provost for Academic Success and Innovation is a key leadership position in the Office of the Provost responsible for overseeing academic and administrative areas that support the institution’s educational mission. This role demands a strategic leader who can manage multiple initiatives aimed at enhancing student and faculty success, as well as fostering strong relationships within and outside the University. Professional Qualifications and Personal Qualities The successful candidate must hold a doctoral degree and have significant experience in higher education administration, particularly in academic affairs. In addition, candidates must have proven their ability to lead and manage complex projects and initiatives. Additionally, the successful candidate should have: ▪ A forward-looking, holistic understanding of faculty success and student success across undergraduate and graduate programs and an ability to enhance student learning in the classroom and outside of the classroom. ▪ A willingness to innovate, encourage experimentation across campus, and scale successful initiatives that can positively impact the entire institution. ▪ Experience leveraging new technologies to enhance faculty and student outcomes. ▪ An understanding of an evolving higher education environment and engagement in national conversations on undergraduate and/or graduate education through organizations such as the American Association of Colleges and Universities ( AAC &U), Association for Undergraduate Education at Research Universities ( UERU ), Council on Graduate Education ( CGS ), or Association for Public and Land Grant Universities ( APLU ). ▪ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. ▪ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders, including faculty across all the University’s academic schools. ▪ The ability to coordinate academic initiatives across a large and complex campus, allowing for flexibility in academic units while also ensuring a cohesive approach to the University’s educational mission.
