Description We are looking for a highly skilled VP/Director of Finance to join our team on a contract basis in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role is ideal for a strategic leader with deep expertise in financial management, process optimization, and accounting operations. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving efficiency, evaluating financial functions, and ensuring compliance with established policies.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger management.
• Analyze and document current financial processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Lead initiatives to optimize purchase order processes and accounts payable workflows.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of finance and accounting functions, recommending enhancements where necessary.
• Provide strategic leadership in budget planning, financial forecasting, and auditing processes.
• Manage expense reporting systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with banking partners to oversee mercantile banking operations and cash reconciliations.
• Utilize broad IT and software skills to support financial systems and tools.
• Ensure accurate reconciliation of balance sheets, bank accounts, and other financial statements.
• Drive continuous improvement across accounting and finance functions. Requirements • Proven experience in financial leadership roles, such as VP or Director of Finance.
• Expertise in accounting functions, including accounts payable, general ledger, and month-end close processes.
• Strong knowledge of accounting software systems, including SAP.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and optimize financial processes, including purchase orders and expense reporting.
• Proficiency in financial forecasting, budgeting, and auditing.
• Experience with balance sheet account reconciliations, cash reconciliations, and bank account reconciliations.
• Skilled in analyzing and documenting financial procedures to drive process improvements.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage teams and collaborate effectively.
