Job Description
This position is part of the xEV Regional PE group for Electric Vehicle products, focusing on supporting Motor programs. The role involves establishing equipment, processes, and quotations for Motor product programs, specifically developing and implementing mass production welding operations. The position leads efforts to find innovative and cost-effective solutions for welding operations in the manufacture of automotive motors. It aims to identify synergy potentials across programs and best practices to drive cost-effective solutions. Collaboration with project management is key, supporting installations, new launches, and special/capital projects, while also providing production support specific to robotic welding.
Responsibilities
+ Lead activities to establish equipment, processes, and quotations for Motor product programs.
+ Develop and implement mass production welding operations for automotive motors.
+ Identify synergy potentials across programs and best practices for cost-effective solutions.
+ Provide support for installations, new launches, and special projects, particularly in robotic welding.
+ Work 80% on the manufacturing floor and 20% in the office, focusing on reducing cycle times and providing line-side support.
+ Design and develop automated weld systems.
+ Coordinate with site management teams to develop priorities and objectives, overseeing implementation.
+ Engage in heavy manufacturing within an automated welding environment.
Essential Skills
+ Expertise in TIG welding.
+ Experience with welding various materials including stainless steel, aluminum, and copper.
+ 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
+ Engineering degree.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of robotics is a plus.
+ Experience with Panasonic Welding Robots and laser welding.
+ Proficiency in weld inspection using 2D/3D camera systems, particularly Keyence vision systems.
+ Familiarity with SolidWorks and programmable logic controllers.
+ Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
Work Environment
The work environment involves typical Monday to Friday hours, with support needed during weekends, especially during launches. The role requires sitting or standing for long periods. Up to 30% domestic and international travel may be required. The facility hosts seven different manufacturing processes, offering opportunities to engage with various engineering processes. This is an ideal place for someone eager to develop their skills and experience in automotive manufacturing.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
